Beautiful Cosmetic Fillings

Dr. James Paschal does this by using tooth-colored fillings, customized to blend into your smile.

When you have tooth decay, it needs to be treated promptly to prevent it from spreading and further compromising the health and beauty of your smile. Dr. Paschal gently removes the area of decay from your tooth and restores it with an attractive composite filling.

Why Choose Composite Restorations?

While many materials are available to fill a cavity, for over ten years Dr. Paschal has only used amalgam-free fillings to restore his patients’ smiles. What makes composite superior to traditional, silver amalgam restorations? Dr. Paschal prefers Composites because they…

Require Less Tooth Preparation – Amalgam restorations must be “packed” into place.  Because composite bonds directly to the tooth, less healthy enamel needs to be removed in order for the filling to properly adhere.

Are More Durable – As you eat and drink, the temperature in your mouth fluctuates. This changing temperature causes amalgam fillings to flex and change. Over time, fractures in your tooth can result. Composite materials are temperature stable and retain their solid state.

Are More Attractive – Nobody wants to show off silver fillings! With tooth-tinted composite restorations, you can talk, eat and laugh with confidence, knowing that friends are admiring your pearly whites and not the flash of silver in your smile.

If you want to change out your silver fillings with a more appealing option, Dr. Paschal is happy to do so. However, if mercury exposure is your primary concern, you might be surprised to learn that there is actually more mercury in a tuna sandwich!
