West Reno Dental, your local West Reno dental practice, has been providing comprehensive orthodontic therapy like braces in his family practice for over 15 years. Both adults and teens can access convenient treatments without having to drive back and forth all over town between multiple offices. Everything is available right here!
Braces and orthodontics are used for a variety of reasons, including things like:
- Poorly aligned jaws
- Crooked, crowded, or missing teeth
- Malocclusion (bad bite alignment)
- Traumatic injuries
- Inherited anatomy
West Reno Dental provides two types of treatment for our patients to choose from:
West Reno Dental has been providing Invisalign services since 2001. It’s even possible to view your tooth alignment on a virtual program before the process starts. The clear aligners are a great way to treat your smile without metal braces. And best of all, usually, no one can tell that you’re wearing them!
Traditional Metal Braces
For more complex bite needs, traditional braces can align problematic teeth - such as those that may be impacted or severely misaligned. Most of our patients in metal braces are between 10 to 14 years of age, because their facial structures are still developing. However, some adults may need them because of problematic teeth that could be harder to move with removable aligners.
Caring for Your Smile
It’s important to take extra special care of your smile when you’re in fixed orthodontics. Our hygienists will discuss tools and methods that can help you keep your teeth clean, gums healthy, and avoid those unwanted “white circles” that some people see once their braces come off.
We suggest investing an electric toothbrush and water flosser, to make cleaning more efficient. We may also recommend a prescription-strength fluoride gel to keep your teeth resistant to demineralization and decay.
Benefits of a Straighter Smile
When teeth bite together properly, it’s obvious that you’ll enjoy an improved appearance. But a straighter smile can actually improve your oral health. Straighter teeth are less likely to suffer from conditions like:
- Gum disease
- Tooth decay
- TMJ disorders
