Root Canal Treatment in West Reno, NV

Do you have severe sensitivity to hot or cold? Is a tooth throbbing for no reason? Does spontaneous pain keep you up at night? Have you noticed a bump on the gums? Are you experiencing swelling and/or pain upon biting/chewing? Is your tooth beginning change in color?

If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, there is a good chance that you may need a root canal, also known as endodontic therapy. The affected tooth will be tested and examined to determine if treatment is warranted.

What’s Involved in the Treatment Process?

The purpose of a root canal is to save the affected tooth. Most endodontic treatment can be provided right here in our West Reno dental office without having to refer you to an off-site specialist.

After numbing the area, our team removes the affected nerve through an opening at the top of the tooth. Then, the canal inside of the tooth is cleaned and with special instruments. Finally, it is filled and then sealed off and structurally protected with a dental crown. We pride ourselves in providing patients with a crown that will blend well with their other teeth, resulting in a more natural bite and optimal aesthetic results.

Doesn't a Root Canal Hurt?

At West Reno Dental, we are committed to making your experience as free of pain and as comfortable as possible.

“I’ve had patients tell me things like, ‘I would rather have a baby than a root canal.’ But after I complete the root canal, my patients look at me and say ‘Is that all there is? That was so easy!’”

Expected Recovery and Future Post Treatment Care

Following treatment, you may experience mild tenderness at the site and in the jaw. Post-procedure symptoms are temporary and respond well to over the counter pain medications. Continue with your oral care routine as normal. Good oral hygiene along with routine checkups and cleanings are all that is needed to maintain the health of your tooth, post root canal.
